Registration fees and registration

Early-bird registration fee of 250 EUR is applicable until May 5th. Thereafter the registration fee will be 350 EUR. The fee includes participation to conference programme, welcome reception and conference dinner, and refreshments and lunches during the conference.

Accommodation

Conference participants are requested to book an accommodation by themselves. As the campus area does not have hotels, the local organising committee recommends booking a hotel that is located nearby the central railway station hotels or next to Hakaniemi square. These places have a direct bus connection to the campus. Please book your room early in order to avoid high prices.

Helsinki has a wide range of hotels. Below are some of the suggested accommodation options. Prices below refer to prices available at the website of each hotel. To obtain the best prices, participants are encouraged to check hotel search engines (such as hotels.com or booking.com).

Getting to the venue

Public transportation in Helsinki region: Helsinki region has an extensive public transportation network. Please use Helsinki Region Transport authority’s route planner to plan your travel. When using public transportation buses, please note that the bus/metro/tram/train ticket must be purchased in advance from a ticketing machine, by using HSL tickets and route planner mobile app (available for smart phones) or from a kiosk. Bus drivers do no longer sell tickets.

Ticket prices vary by zone. City center and Hakaniemi are located in zone A, Viikki campus is located in zone B and airport is located in zone C. To travel between Airport and campus, a ticket for zones zones BC is required and to travel between city center and campus, a ticket for zones AB is required. Travel from the airport to the city center requires a ticket for zones ABC. A single ticket for two zones (AB or BC) is €3.1 and a single ticket for three zones (ABC) is €4.1. A day ticket is easy and economic option for travelling with the public transport. The day ticket allows unlimited travel in these zones for 48 (2 days) or 72 hours (3 days) and costs €13.50-€16.50 (2-3 zones for two days) or €18-€22 (2-3 zones for three days).

By plane: Book a ticket to Helsinki-Vantaa (HEL) airport. The airport has a direct commuter train connection to the city center of Helsinki (P or I train) and a bus connection (bus number 600). Train journey from the airport to the central railway station takes about 30 minutes.

To travel from the airport to Viikki campus by public transportation, please take P train to Malmi station and then bus number 79 towards Herttoniemi (in Malmi the bus stop is located on the bridge that is above the station). Get off at stop called “Viikki”. The bus stop is located 270 meters from the venue. It takes about 40-45 minutes to get from the airport to Viikki. For ticket prices, please see section “Public transportation” above. When traveling from Viikki to the airport, please use the same route in reverse order. In Viikki, buses towards Malmi station leave from the bus stop that is under the highway bridge.

Taxi from the airport to Viikki costs around 50 euros.

By boat: Helsinki can be reached by boat from Tallinn and Stockholm. The harbours have a tram connection to the city center.

By bus from the city center: Viikki campus can be reached from the city center and Hakaniemi by several buses (at least 75, 77, 717, 721, 739). Please get off at bus stop called “Viikki”. Depending on which bus you take, the bus stop is located on the highway or under the highway bridge. The journey time is about 15-25 minutes depending on the traffic. Buses from Viikki to the city center leave from the opposite side of the highway.
