Nordic Hop Meeting, August 22, 2024, Uppsala, Sweden

NJF organizes a one-day workshop on hop production. The hybrid event will take place both in Uppsala and online. The meeting will include oral presentations held on-site in the campus of Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, in Uppsala, Sweden in combination with online presentations. The afternoon of the meeting will be devoted to a visit to a hop cultivar trial in southern Uppsala, including beer testing. NJF would like each member country to organize something locally related to hop cropping, such as a field trip, meeting breweries, sensory testing of hop cultivars.

Speakers are invited to present their work on all aspects related to hops – plant propagation, cropping systems, use in beer and other food/feed compositions, historical use, plant origin, sensory issues, processing technology for brewery industry. The organizing team are Örjan Berglund (Swedish university of Agricultural Science, Uppsala) and Fredrik Fogelberg (RISE – Research Institutes of Sweden, Uppsala). Organic food for a sustainable future, November 11-13, 2024, Copenhagen, Denmark

The event is organized by The International Research Association for Organic Food Quality and Health (FQH) and University of Copenhagen, Faculty of Science. The event will take place at the University of Copenhagen, in Frederiksberg, Denmark. Deadline for the submission of abstracts is June 12, 2024. Link to the event.


PhD Course “Cover crops in the Nordic countries – soil C, N management and greenhouse gas emissions”, September-October 2024, online and three days face-to-face session.

This PhD course is organized in combination of an online and a physical meeting. The attendants must be accepted as PhD students at a university, and preferably have a background in soil sciences, soil biology, ecology, agroecosystems, or similar discipline. Although the course is aimed mainly for students in Scandinavia and Finland, the organized to invite students also from the Baltic countries to join the course. Nordic-Baltic perspectives on research collaboration in agriculture, climate change and climate challenges

A Nordic Association of Agricultural Science (NJF), The Nordic Joint Committee for Agricultural and Food Research (NKJ) & NordForsk joint webinar.

Agriculture in Nordic-Baltic region shares common challenges such as short growing season and cold temperatures.  Research collaboration within Nordic-Baltic region plays an important role in providing solutions on how the agricultural sector can respond to these challenges and valorize new opportunities. NJF, NKJ and NordForsk will organize a joint webinar on Nordic-Baltic collaboration in agricultural research. The webinar will highlight the Nordic-Baltic agricultural research and research collaboration as well as introduce an upcoming Nordic-Baltic joint conference on resolving environmental and climate change issues in agriculture that will be organized in Autumn 2024. International continuous scientific conference ”Environmental sustainability in a climate change context: challenges and adaptation”

Precision Livestock Farming (PLF) workshop

April 25-26, 2024, Helsinki, Finland

The PLF workshop is a two-day seminar with an equal focus on presentation and discussion of ongoing research within the PLF field as well as networking between the participants. The workshop seminar aims at sharing ongoing and future research with each other, with a focus on the discussion of methodology and the problems you encounter. As such, we build a valuable network of  in an informal and inclusive setting.

The board adopted new statutes for NJF 

In December 2023, the board of NJF adopted new statutes for NJF. The new statutes introduced a streamlined structure for NJF.
